Vintage furnitures has become a major social media trend in recent years and it is one of the trends we’ll continue to see in 2023.ย Not only it is environmental friendly, sustainable and also creates a certain flavour in yourย newly renovated home. There are many ways to acquire used furnitures and there are also speciality stores out there which sells vintage furnitures.
TDS recommends a few stores that sell Vintage furniture:
Buying used items are on the rise and it certainly draw certain crowd to this. Why not doll up your newly renovated home with something that lasts and is sustainable in the long run? One way for sure we know it can add amazing character to your home and contributes in saving our environment.
Another trend we will see in 2023 is accent walls, which adds definition and eye-catching elements to spaces.
One way you may consider is to opt for an accent which has a unique texture or similar color to the rest of the room as it accentuates the whole outlook of the interior. Another way to create a wooden accent wall is to use vertical slats as they give a roof a lift, making small spaces such as our HDB homes feel more intimate and bigger homes feel more inviting.
Accent walls are still thriving in the decorating industry, and we donโt see them waning in popularity any time soon. Because accent walls are so customizable, even if accent walls look a bit different than they have in the past, the original principle remains. If you want to keep your accent walls looking fresh and stylish, be sure to pay attention to popular home decor trendsย and try incorporating them into your accent wall decor.

Thereโs no getting around it. Bold colors are in โ and they look like theyโre here to stay. That said, these shades can be tricky to handle when it actually comes down to putting a design together.
Here are some tips and tricks for handling strong hues in any interior design:
Proportion and scale:
Paying attention to proportion and scale is an important factor in designing any room, but it becomes especially crucial when youโre dealing with bold shades. This is because, in this case, it is possible to have too much of a good thing. Using too much of one, eye-catching color in your design runs the risk of feeling overwhelming, rather than like a trendy style statement.
Luckily, there is an easy rule of thumb to follow. If youโre working with a small space, opt for an accent wall over covering the whole room in one, singular shade. The same goes for overly large spaces, where thereโs tons of wall space to cover. Medium-sized rooms, on the other hand, can handle a large punch of color. Feel free to cover all four walls.
Pattern:
Pattern is the great unifier in interior design. In a room featuring bold colors, you can use it to bring the design together byย choosing a pattern that features your shades in a cohesive application. If youโre unsure of which bold colors will go together, picking a unifying pattern is a good place to start building your design.
As for where to put the patterns, textiles are always a solid option. Look for patterned rugs, throw pillows and blankets. Though, if youโre looking to make an even bigger statement, patterned furniture will certainly fit the bill. Think about adding in a patterned accent chair or sofa to serve as the focal point of the space.
Light fixtures and fittings should decrease in size coming 2023 as if it keep increasing in size and often do not match the scale of a room. A chandelier should not be as big as the dining table beneath it, and you should be able to approach the table without feeling like you are going to hit your head on the light fixture.
We recommend something that is subtle yet produces adequate lumens that is still able to light up the room.
Now minimal lighting doesnโt mean you need to live in a darkly lit home, quite the contrary, minimalism is all about light and its relationship to the space between it. Finding the balance and cohesion between natural light and artificial light can be tricky but once found it will completely transform your living spaces.
If you are lucky enough to have lots of natural light then allowing that to lift up a room is wonderful. However not everyone has lots of natural light and even when you do it can be unreliable with the changing of seasons, weather and of course at night. Using artificial light in these instances is essential.

We have seen many homes with open shelvings especially those recessed-in horizontal shelvings that run across the walls. Yes those are strived to createย feelings of openness and more storage, but the trend will make an exit in 2023.
While this trend may disappear soon, we would like to recommend using less of these open shelving or floating shelving especially in your kitchen. As there is a saying goes: less is more. Then it will draw you around back to the Minimalist interior style again like we shared about about minimal lighting and fixtures.
Make more rooms for concealed shelvings, and custom made carpentry to create more storage solutions for 2023!
